How we collect, use, and protect your data.

Task Genie ("we", "our", "the extension") is a Chrome extension and web service that helps you capture, organize, and complete personal tasks. This policy explains, in plain language, what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it.

1. Data we collect

Account information

• Email address — used to create and sign in to your Task Genie account.
• Authentication one-time passcodes (OTPs) — sent to your email when you sign in or reset access. We do not collect or store passwords.
• Display name — optional name shown to people you collaborate with.

Task data

• Tasks, lists, comments, due dates, priorities, labels, and reminders that you create or that are shared with you.
• Push-subscription tokens — stored on our servers so we can deliver the task-reminder notifications you have explicitly enabled.

Page context (only when you choose)

When you explicitly use the "Add to Task Genie" quick-capture feature (right-click menu, keyboard shortcut, or extension action), the extension reads the current tab's URL and page title and attaches them to the new task as context.

This only happens on your explicit action. We do not track your browsing history, and we do not read the contents of any page at any other time.

Standard server logs

Our backend logs basic request metadata (IP address, user agent, request path, status code) for security, abuse prevention, and debugging. Logs are retained for a limited period and are not used to build user profiles.

2. Data we do NOT collect

• Health, medical, or biometric information
• Financial information or payment card numbers (payments are processed by Razorpay; we only store subscription status)
• Personal communications (emails, chats, messages)
• Precise location / GPS coordinates
• Browsing history or web-activity timelines
• Keystrokes, mouse activity, scroll, or any form of behavioral tracking
• Page content beyond the single URL and title captured during an explicit quick-capture action

3. How we use your data

We use the data above solely to operate Task Genie's single purpose: managing your tasks. Specifically, to:

• Authenticate you and protect your account
• Sync your tasks, lists, and reminders across the devices you sign in on
• Deliver the in-app and push notifications you have set
• Process subscription payments via Razorpay and manage your plan
• Detect, prevent, and respond to abuse, fraud, and security incidents
• Comply with legal obligations

4. Where and how long data is stored

Your data is stored on our backend hosted at todo.automation360.cloud. Authentication uses HTTP-only, secure session cookies.

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your task data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., financial records).

5. Who we share data with

We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers.

We share data only with the following service providers, solely to operate Task Genie:

• Razorpay — to process subscription payments. They receive billing information you provide at checkout; we do not store your card number.
• Email delivery provider (Bravio) — to send OTP and reminder emails to you.
• Push notification provider — to deliver browser push notifications to the devices you have signed in on.
• Hosting and infrastructure providers — to run our backend and database.

We may also disclose data when required by law or to respond to valid legal process.

6. Your choices and rights

• Sign out / delete account — available in the extension's settings.
• Disable push notifications — in Chrome's extension settings or inside the extension.
• Export your data — request a copy of all your task data by emailing us.
• Revoke page-context capture — simply don't use the quick-capture feature; the extension will never read tab data.
• Access, correct, or delete your data — email us at the address below.

7. Security

We protect your data with industry-standard measures: TLS in transit, encrypted password/secret storage, HTTP-only session cookies, rate limiting on authentication endpoints, and least-privilege access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we work continuously to safeguard your information.

8. Children's privacy

Task Genie is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in-product before the change takes effect.
